The Russian-made Mikoyan Mig-29A Fulcrum was designed to counter the US built F-16 and F/A-18 fighters. Since 1983 it has been a mainstay first of the Soviet and now the Russian Air Force. With a Mach 2.4 maximum speed and ceiling of 59,000 ft, it has a combat range of 430 miles.
